Korg DSN-12 US Release October 23rd

Once again Korg is expanding their line of Nintendo music applications with the release of Korg DSN-12 on October 23rd. The new synth application was designed by Japanese developers Detune (who brought us the fantastic Korg M01D application) and offers 12 synth types and a 3D oscilloscope (on the Nintendo 3Ds). The application will cost $37 in the United States and should be available in Nintendo’s eShop later this week. You can also follow development on the application’s Facebook page.

Featuring simple operation that utilizes Nintendo 3DS stylus, the “KORG DSN-12″ software makes it easy for anyone to enjoy serious sound-creation and song production with analog synthesizers. The software provides twelve monophonic synthesizers. Each one lets you add three effects, allowing a broad range of powerful sounds that you would not expect from a game machine. You have seamless access to all of these synthesizers and their sequences. Since you can make your ideas take shape very quickly, you can enjoy constructing songs in real time while performing in a DJ-like manner. You can assemble sequences into patterns, and memorize up to 64 patterns for use. Even more complex and interesting songs can be created by freely connecting these patterns together.
Arturia MicroBrute SE

Arturia have released a new “SE” version of their popular MicroBrute analog synthesizer that now comes in Blue, White, and Orange variations. The MicroBrute SE is essentially the same synth as the previous versions but comes with new color choices, a messenger-style carrying case, and 4 stackable patch cables. The Arturia MicroBrute SE is currently available for $329 US.
Zaquencer Step Sequencer for BCR2000

The Zaquencer is a new firmware project that was created by ZAQ Audio that allows you to use the Behringer BCR2000 as a MIDI step sequencer (without any computer attached). The company explains,”It is not a preset but a new operating system for your BCR2000, effectively turning it into a whole different device.” As you can see in the above video, the step sequencer offers an impressive amount of control including 32 steps, 4 tracks, and a polyphonic mode. The Zaquencer firmware is currently available for 69 Euros (about $88 US). There is also a demo version of the software that allows you to try the product before buying.
808 – The Movie

“The making of 808 was a very personal journey for me: being able to reconnect and interview (along with Luke Bainbridge) many of my old DJ/producer friends, while helping get the godfathers of the early scene some overdue acknowledgement,” said Arthur Baker. “But the most special part of the filming was traveling to Japan, meeting and interviewing Mr. K and jamming on his 808 on my birthday. I feel very privileged to have had this opportunity.”
